tam090: various – 3am wax vol. 2

3am Recordings’ return to wax in 2016 was a huge success, with TAM088 hitting the Juno Top 10 & support coming from around the world. Next up Al Bradley’s ‘Night Owl’ on TAM089 continued the trend in 2017, again receiving plaudits from DJs across the board. So now we move into 2018 & bring you TAM090, which also marks the fifteenth birthday of 3am Recordings. Opening up the EP we welcome back Ceri, whose first ever musical outing was on 3am back in 2012, with her remix of Askani. Since then her deep & twisted take on the techno vibe has seen her grace labels including Decay, Wiggle, Dilate, Midnight Social and now her recently launched vinyl imprint Find Your Own. Here Ceri brings a dark acid flow to welcome you to the 12′, taking no prisoners & showcasing exactly why her star is continuing to rise. Keeping the darker feel but slowing the BPM, Manchester’s friendliest man Danny Ward – aka Dubble D / Moodymanc – returns to 3am and it’s a real warm welcome back. Known for his work on 2020 Vision, Tsuba, Local Talk, Danse Club, his own Well Cut Records & way more, we’re
provided with a deeper side of Danny’s sound here; tougher stabs & chunky percussion are the order of the day. Flip over to the B-side and our good friend Michael Lovatt makes his debut on the label. Having represented 3am at gigs in his city of residence, Berlin, it was only a matter of time before his sounds hit the wax. Michael shows a warm garage-influenced sound here, adding a further deep flavour to the 12′ & a timeless slice of dancefloor quality. Rounding off the EP and again taking the tempo down into rolling funk-fuelled territory, Helsinki’s Twisted Puppies make a return to the label and their debut on vinyl. Their ‘Disco Kicks’ cut has been working superbly well at 3am label parties since being picked up so it’s a pleasure to give the guys their first release on the black stuff.
